Establishment
The Department of Physical Education and Sports was established under the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Education in the 1990–1991 academic year, and a second (evening) education program was introduced in the 1992–1993 academic year. With the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 97/9414, published in the Official Gazette on 10 June 1997, Yaşar Doğu School of Physical Education and Sports was established within our University.
Pursuant to the letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 16 July 1997 and numbered 13209, the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching was established within the School. This department was merged with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching that had been operating under the Faculty of Education, and the merged unit was transferred to the Yaşar Doğu School of Physical Education and Sports.
With the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 2013/5114, published in the Official Gazette on 24 July 2013, the School of Physical Education and Sports was transformed into the Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sports Sciences. The Department continues its education and training activities within the Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sports Sciences.
